Maroof Raza
Author, Consultant Editor for Strategic Affairs on Times Now

Mr Maroof Raza is well known in India for his TV commentaries on national security. He appears often on TIMES NOW, and is their Consulting Editor for Strategic Affairs. Previously, he has also appeared on almost all of India’s leading television channels and on BBC’s World Service radio programmes, since 1995.

Mr Raza is often invited to lecture on India’s foreign policy & security concerns in India and abroad at Indian missions as well as by international think-tanks, and also, at all the leading Indian government and military institutions (from NDA to NDC and LBSNAA).

He earlier wrote a regular column in THE WEEK and has now begun to do so for Business World. The books he authored include: Low-Intensity Conflicts (1995), Wars and No Peace over Kashmir (1996), Generals and Governments in India and Pakistan (2001) and Confronting Terrorism (2009). He is also the General Editor of a Military Affairs series of Har Anand Publications (in India) since 2001. He is the editor-at-large of a new monthly, "Fauji India" and also publishes a magazine titled ‘Salute’.

Educated in India (at Mayo College, Ajmer and St. Stephen’s College, Delhi) and subsequently in England (at King’s College, London and at Cambridge University), Mr Raza has served in the Indian Army’s Grenadiers and Mechanised Infantry Regiments, and as an instructor at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research, Delhi, the Henry L. Stimson Centre, Washington and the War Studies Department of King’s College, London.
