John Lenton
Deputy Mayor, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead

Cllr John Lenton was first elected to serve the residents of Horton and Wraysbury in 2007.

Cllr Lenton was educated at Bournemouth School and the London School of Economics. In his initial career he worked variously as an economist and management consultant in the vehicle and aerospace industries before moving into financial consultancy where he set up Avocet Finance Limited which successfully developed niche areas of Equipment Finance.

He has been active in politics since he joined the Young Conservatives. He was Chairman of the Birmingham Bow group and a member of various national policy committees prior to the 1970 General Election. After moving to Derby he was active in the Belper Conservative Association and haired it before returning to London

Since election as Councillor he has been Chairman of the Royal County of Berkshire Pension Fund which has become recognised as a prestige Fund winning at least one national or international award each year. It was the first Local Government Fund to develop longevity insurance.

When Chairman of the Aviation Forum he successfully led the campaign to remove the proposed third Heathrow Runway option which would have devastated Wraysbury and nearby surrounding villages. He is a member of the Berkshire Fire Authority and Vice chairman of two of its four sub committees, a past Vice Chairman of the Windsor Rural Development Control Panel, and from time to time a member of Overview and Scrutiny Panels. For 3 years he was a Director of Windsor Housing.
